Greetings from all the folks of the Town of Badin. We are glad that you dropped in on our new web page and hope that you enjoy the experience. Our purpose for this web page is to allow others to be aware that there is a quaint, historically rich, little town in the central part of the beautiful North Carolina Piedmont named Badin. In 1912, Badin received its name from the Frenchman that supervised our town’s creation and construction. With the outbreak of the First World War our French founders returned to their native land to fight for its freedom. This is when Tallassee Power Company came into Badin to finish the building of our town and complete construction of the two nearby hydropower facilities on the Yadkin River. Badin was a thriving metropolis by 1916 with one of the world’s largest aluminum smelters and tallest hydropower dams in the world for that time. Many of our community’s buildings were started by our French founders and therefore those buildings reflect their architectural flavor. Our quadraplexes (townhouses), our cottages and bungalows, our country club buildings, our old hospital building, and some of our commercial structures continue to represent that heritage.

All we Badinites would like to extend a heartfelt invitation to everybody that drops in on our web page to come and visit our unique town beside Badin Lake. Badin Lake and Falls Lake offer many outdoor pleasures such as excellent fishing, boating, skiing, swimming, and picnicking. During your time here you might enjoy a visit to our neighboring (3 miles away) Morrow Mountain State Park which provides outdoor adventures for hikers, bikers, campers and horseback riders.
